PPC Audit Methodology

Every free audit follows the same systematic process. Here's exactly what I look for and how I quantify recoverable spend.

Step 1: Search Term Reports (Last 60 Days)

What I look for: Search terms that have spent $50+ in ad budget with zero or near-zero conversions.

Why it matters: These are the easiest wins. Add them as negative keywords and you immediately stop the bleed. Most accounts have 20-50 of these.

Typical finding: $200-$800/mo of pure wasted spend.

Step 2: Campaign Structure Audit

What I look for: Missing manual exact-match campaigns for converted keywords. Auto campaigns running for 90+ days without being harvested.

Why it matters: If your auto campaigns are converting on specific terms, those terms should be moved to manual exact match for tighter bid control.

Typical finding: 5-15 keywords being underbid OR overbid significantly.

Step 3: Bidding Strategy Review

What I look for: "Dynamic bids - up and down" on campaigns that should be fixed bids, or vice versa. Wrong placement strategy.

Why it matters: Dynamic up-and-down can overbid by 100% on placements. For some campaigns, this destroys margins.

Typical finding: 2-3 campaigns running wrong bidding strategy.

Step 4: Defensive ASIN Targeting Check

What I look for: Whether you're bidding on your own ASINs to block competitor ads on your listings.

Why it matters: Without defensive ASIN, competitors literally place ads on YOUR product pages, stealing your traffic and conversions.

Typical finding: 80% of audited accounts have no defensive ASIN strategy.

Step 5: FBA Refund Audit

What I look for: Missing inventory at FBA warehouses, damaged returns Amazon owes you for, customer refunds beyond Amazon's policy.

Why it matters: Amazon makes mistakes. Most sellers don't have time to chase $50-$200 discrepancies, but they add up.

Typical finding: $1,200-$5,000 in unclaimed refunds for active sellers.
